The next Shared Island Dialogue on “Enabling Rural and Community Development on a Shared Island”, will take place in the Broadband Connection Point (BCP), Drumhowan Community Centre, Monaghan on Friday 20 May from 11.00am – 1.15pm.
This hybrid event is part of the Government’s Shared Island initiative that was launched by the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin TD, to work with all communities and traditions on the island to build consensus around a shared future underpinned by the Good Friday Agreement.
The Dialogue will seek contributions from stakeholders North and South on the themes of Social Enterprise for Thriving Rural Communities and the Transformational Potential of Rural Hubs. Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, will also take part on behalf of the Government.
Discussion will focus on how we can enhance, develop, and deepen North/South cooperation and collaboration in these areas to enable balanced regional development, sustainable economic growth, recreation and well-being across the island.
Registration for this event is essential and you can register to attend either in person or online. Further details on the Dialogue including an event programme will be circulated closer to the event.
Plenary sessions of the Shared Island Dialogues are being made available online at www.gov.ie/sharedisland/dialogues to contribute to broader civic discussion.
