Local High Streets in Omagh and Newcastle Drive Circular Economy Through Eyewear Reuse

On Monday morning, Catherine had the pleasure of hand-delivering the substantial collection to our members at the Newcastle County Down Lions. The sheer volume of donations, enough to fill several bags and boxes, was met with great enthusiasm.

The impact of these donations extends far beyond Northern Ireland. We are working closely with Marian from the Lions, who will be sharing the full story of the glasses’ upcoming journey:

International Processing: The collection is headed to France for specialised testing and refurbishment.

Precision Matching: Each pair is carefully analysed for its specific prescription and strength.

Global Redistribution: In a brilliant bit of “resource matching,” the glasses are paired with individuals who need that exact prescription, changing lives through the gift of clear vision.

A Huge Thank You to Our Community

We want to extend a massive thank you to the local practices in Omagh that made all this possible. Their dedication to waste prevention and community support is more than appreciated: Sincere thanks to Vision Care Opticians (Omagh, Castlederg, and Fintona), Curran Optometrists and EyeHear Opticians and Audiologists.
