NIRN Visits The Rediscovery Cente – The Hub of all things Circular
Our fantastic guides, Jacqui and Ruth, showed us how this historic building—once the boiler house for the Ballymun flats—has been completely transformed into a vibrant hub for sustainability. It’s a brilliant example of the circular economy in action!
During our tour, we saw how the centre brings circular living to life through its four social enterprises:
Rediscover Fashion: They breathe new life into old clothes through repair and upcycling, teaching skills for sustainable fashion.
Rediscover Cycling: They fix donated bikes and sell them at great prices, reusing every part possible so nothing goes to waste.
Rediscover Paint: They save unwanted paint from landfills and turn it into affordable, eco-friendly paint.
Rediscover Furniture: They give unwanted furniture a second life through repair and restoration.
A huge thank you to CEO Claire Downey for her insightful presentation on the centre’s mission: to create “a world with no waste, where all resources are valued and our planet is regenerated.”
The Rediscovery Centre is a powerful reminder that circular living isn’t just a concept—it’s a hands-on approach we can all adopt!
