Artitude in April 2025

Artitude in April 2025

On 4 April Julie attended Reach ‘25, Queen’s University Belfast’s Arts and Sustainability Festival.  The Arts Power event was a full day of sustainability talks focusing on what the arts and cultural sectors are doing to reach and engage more people on sustainability issues.  Speakers included:

  • Professor Marguerite Nyhan – Professor of Engineering for Sustainability at University College Cork; Research Affiliate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, presenting “Harnessing Arts, Culture & Creativity for Community Engagement on Climate Action: Insights from the Creative Climate Action Programme"
  • Toby Smith, Director of Development at Belfast Photo Festival, presenting “Visualising Northern Ireland’s Natural Heritage”
  • Claire Murray, Lyric Theatre presenting “Greening the Stage: Using the Theatre Green Book to Inspire Sustainable Practices and Climate Action.”

And so much more.  A truly inspiring day.

On 8 April Julie attended the Education for Sustainable Development Forum’s Creating Connections event in Belfast.  This event highlights innovative practices in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).  Recently Julie completed a case study on how the Artitude project furthers the UN’s Strategic Development Goals, in particular 12 - Responsible consumption and production, 13 - Climate Action and 4 - Quality Education.  Keen to share and present this case study at the next ESDF Creating Connections event.
