Artitude in June 2025

Another busy month for our Project Officer, Julie.

Julie took part in Repair and Share Foyle’s Big Fix event, showcasing the Climate Wheel of Fortune and engaging attendees in conversations about the circular economy. The climate wheel – a large, hand-crafted piece made from reclaimed wood and painted with 12 key facts about the circular economy – invited participants to spin and reflect. Each spin prompted discussion around the fact it landed on, often sparking surprise or concern. One participant remarked, “Surely there's a better way – there's so much water needed to make clothes and things!” Attendees were also encouraged to make a personal climate pledge in response to what they learned from the wheel.

Several Artitude – Climate Culture Circularity Action Cards have been designed for the new My Earth Hub website. Activities include setting up a repair café, designing a poster to promote reuse and repair, creating a social media reel to encourage sustainable habits, and writing your own story using Unravelled, the Story of a Jumper as inspiration.

Visit https://myearth.org.uk/ to see these and many more action cards for all ages to take part in.

A webinar – Why People Don’t Act on Climate – and How You Can Change That, organised by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund, was attended. The webinar focused on providing research into the apathy and disengagement from the general public on climate change, along with strategies to shift mindsets and engage audiences with sometimes hard to digest information. Listening to experts discuss the latest research in climate psychology was invaluable to the Artitude project going forward.
