Artitude in August

Artitude in August

This month Artitude project officer Julie was busy working on the upcoming Artitude podcast series, due to be released from the start of October.

Julie attended a workshop organised by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund, discussing why people don’t act on Climate Change and how we can address this.  This informative workshop was attended by various individuals and organisations from across the UK, and provided valuable insight into how to address Climate Change apathy and disinformation.  By ensuring climate change messages resonate on a personal and emotional level with the target audience, community engagement can grow leading to increased action on climate change issues.

Julie has also organised Mend at the MAC, championing the incredible Story of a Jumper to coincide with Sustainable Fashion Week 2025.

Mend at the MAC

Join NIRN, Artitude and Tools for Solidarity for a special event celebrating Sustainable Fashion Week 2025 at the MAC in Belfast.

Not only will we have a textile repair cafe, but there will also be specialist repair ‘clinics’ where you can get garments fixed and learn basic techniques to prolong the life of much loved clothing.  If you haven’t got anything that needs fixed, come along anyway to take in the Threads of Change: The Future of Sustainable Fashion exhibition that will be on display.  There will be some examples of stunning mending and making along with a screening of the animation -  Story of a Jumper, a beautiful tale of textile repair authored by Marcella Di Palo.

Event takes place 11am-3pm, Sunday 28 September at the MAC, 10 Exchange St, West, Belfast BT1 2NJ.  Admission and repair is free of charge.  Please keep an eye out for further details of repair clinics and booking information on the NIRN social media channels.
