Repair Café NI Hosts First In-Person Gathering

Even though Storm Amy made travel difficult, the event had a great turnout with 35 volunteers representing nine of the twelve established groups. (Since then, the new group of Repair Cafe, Aghalee has joined, bringing the total to 13!). The RCNI Board was also present at the event.

During the day, volunteers joined in different activities like icebreakers, group discussions, creative activities and talked about their experiences with repair. It was a good chance for everyone to share ideas and opportunities to strengthen groups and grow repair.

Chris and Marcella, Repair Café NI’s Network Weavers, talked about the work they’ve been doing to connect and support both new and existing groups since March. They presented the new branding and a new website, which will be coming soon and gathered feedback from participants.

It was an important step in building a stronger and more connected repair community in Northern Ireland. If you are interested in setting up a community repair project, get in touch at hello@repaircafeni.org.
