When their Community Fridge ended up with a surplus of bread, the team, led by Mark and Rachel, wanted to do something more impactful than just feeding the local horses. Supported by a grant from Hubbub, the young adults at The Playtrail got to work transforming leftover loaves into breadcrumbs.
The experts at Walled City Brewery then worked their magic, brewing those crumbs into a crisp, refreshing golden ale.
This project is a perfect example of the circular economy in action:
Tackling Waste: Turning surplus bread into a premium local product.
Giving Back: For every pint of Crumbs sold, £1 is donated to the Foyle Foodbank.
