Local Voices, Big Impact: NIRN at the Inaugural Circularity Conference 2026

We are proud to share that NIRN recently took part in the inaugural Circular.ie Circularity Conference 2026. This landmark event brought together leading voices from across Ireland and Europe to share essential insights, latest research, and practical strategies for engaging communities in the circular transition.

A major highlight of the event was the official launch of the 2026 Circular Economy Insights Report, Circularity Communicated: Moments that Matter. The report shows that awareness of the circular economy in Ireland has more than doubled since 2021, proving the real value of sustained, community-focused communication.

Given the importance of practical messaging in driving this transition, we were delighted to have our Executive Officer, Eimear Montague, invited to join an expert panel on the day.

During the discussion, Eimear shared how NIRN communicates the core concepts of circularity, reuse, and repair in ways that genuinely resonate across Northern Ireland:

  • Championing ‘Reuse and Repair Week’: Highlighting how dedicated campaigns turn circular concepts into practical, everyday actions for local communities.

  • Speaking the Local Language: Emphasising the importance of using authentic Northern Ireland dialect and relatable language, ensuring messaging feels grounded rather than overly technical or detached.

  • Keeping Members at the Focus: Showing that our network is the real heart of the movement, ensuring our campaign posters, social media, and visuals focus directly on our members and the practical work they deliver every day.

The conference offered a valuable opportunity to share our progress on a broader stage, learn alongside peer organisations, and reinforce our commitment to supporting community-led reuse and repair.

We encourage all our members to explore the new report, Circularity Communicated: Moments that Matter, to read more on effective circular communication strategies.
