Reuse & Repair Webinar

14 November 2022 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

While recycling will always have a key part to play in reducing our footprint on the planet, it is only part of the solution. There must be a radical rethink amongst the public of how we see the “waste hierarchy”, which Defra defines as ranking waste management options according to what is best for the environment. As household budgets are increasingly squeezed, and people are continuing to look for new ways to save money, this is the ideal time to widen the debate. Reuse must become a key pillar of the circular economy. Our research reveals a shift in the mindset of the public in embracing this concept. There is a growing appetite among the public for reusing items, with our YouGov/FCC Environment polling showing that almost 80 percent agree that all household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) should have a charity reuse shop on site or nearby. This webinar will explore the importance of the culture shift that is needed in encouraging more of us to first make do and reuse, with real life case studies from key speakers across the topic and the changes and shift they are seeing, chaired by letsrecycle.com speakers include: – Andrew Jenkins, Waste Prevention Team Leader, Bucks Council – Paul Sinclair, Operations Manager, The Benjamin Foundation – Liam Bould, Regional Development Manager, FCC Environment
