A Busy Month Of Circular Schools Workshops

Rethinking Tech at Chapel Road Primary, Derry: Year 7 pupils participated in our Electronic Waste Module, co-facilitated by Peter Graham (Habitat for Humanity Ireland). The children were fascinated to learn that every day, mobile phones contain precious metals like gold and silver. This sparked brilliant discussions on keeping devices alive through a four-step approach: Repair, Reuse, Donate and Share.

Reusing Textiles at Lowwood Primary, Belfast: Our Year 5 workshop focused on the journey of textiles, co-facilitated by Sue Bamford (Tools for Solidarity). After learning the difference between a linear and circular economy, the pupils put their skills to the test. Using leftover fabrics destined for landfill, everyone learned basic sewing skills to craft their own fabric rosette. By teaching the next generation to value what they already have, whether it’s a smartphone or a t-shirt, we are building a cleaner, greener future. A massive thank you to the staff, pupils, and our fantastic delivery partners. To find out more about the programme, email orlaith@ni-rn.org
