Tailored Action Ideas for Men’s Sheds
Men’s Sheds are already hubs of practical skills and resourcefulness. You can leverage this to promote community-wide material sufficiency:
Launch a “Shed Share” (Tool Library): Open a temporary or permanent tool library where local community members can borrow high-quality tools for DIY projects instead of buying new ones.
Host a “Fix-It” Marathon: Organise a community repair day where locals can bring in broken wooden furniture, garden tools, or small household items for shedders to fix, or better yet, teach them how to fix.
Run Upcycling Workshops: Host sessions focused on waste prevention by design. Show people how to build useful household items (like birdboxes or planters) using strictly scrap timber, pallets, or reclaimed wood.

For groups focused on electronics, mechanics, and general repair, EWWR is the perfect time to elevate your impact:
Host a “Co-Repair” Teaching Event: Pair your expert volunteer repairers with young people or beginners to teach them one specific skill, such as fixing an electrical plug, sewing a hem, or diagnosing a faulty appliance.
Launch a “Right to Repair” Public Talk or Debate: Pair your usual repair event with an educational panel. Discuss the environmental impacts of modern manufacturing, the legal right to repair, and how keeping electronics alive longer is a radical act of material sufficiency.
Organise a “Beyond Repair” Upcycling Challenge: Set up a specific table for items that are completely broken and cannot be fixed for their original purpose.
