Orlaith Takes Reuse Education Across NI

A Return to Roots in Cookstown

Orlaith made a memorable return to her former school, Phoenix Integrated Primary & Nursery School, Cookstown, but this time in a very different role! She ran a fantastic session with the children to demonstrate how simple actions such as reusing plastic bottles are key to helping us drastically reduce waste.

Moon Buggies & Eco-Warriors in Derry

The hands-on action continued during European Week for Waste Reduction with the P5 classes from Ebrington Primary School, Derry. It was an absolute pleasure spending the afternoon with Mrs. Lindsay’s and Mrs. Caldwell’s brilliant students.

Not only did these young eco-warriors create some seriously cool moon buggies using only leftover materials that would have otherwise been binned, but their knowledge about the environment was fantastic! They were well aware of how discarding items can contribute to waste and harm our precious ecosystems.

The students also demonstrated awareness of electronic waste(WEEE), correctly identifying everyday electronic items that can be repaired. Give a cheer for these bright sparks! They’re proof that even small actions can make a huge difference.

 Secondary Students Step Up

A massive thank you also goes to St. Cecilia’s College, Derry, for inviting Orlaith to deliver a hands-on waste workshop. It was a pleasure working with Ms. Rainey’s Year 8 class and the passionate Environmental Committee future eco-leaders in the making!

Through these workshops, we are empowering the next generation with the valuable, practical skills they need to drive Northern Ireland toward a circular future!
