Welcome the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank Community Partnership to NIRN

We would like to officially welcome the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank Community Partnership (BHCP) to our growing network.  Last week Katie O’Donnell, NIRN community Network Manager met with BHCP’s Education Officer, Kate, for an inspiring site visit to learn more about their remarkable work on the ground.

As a vital pillar of their local community, BHCP is actively driving grassroots sustainability, education, and social support. Their initiatives span a wide range of high-impact community programmes, including:

  • Tackling Food Security: Running a local Community Fridge to reduce waste and support families.
  • Greening Local Spaces: Developing a network of community gardens across the area.
  • Employability Support: Providing practical training and guidance to help residents get back into work.
  • Youth Empowerment: Partnering directly with local schools to broaden opportunities and support young people.

BHCP’s holistic commitment to strengthening their community makes them a natural fit for our network. We are looking forward to collaborating with their team and supporting their ongoing efforts to build a resilient, connected community.
