In a move towards combating the global issue of e-waste, Derry City & Strabane District Council has secured funding from Material Focus, marking a significant step in addressing the fastest growing waste stream worldwide.
Teaming up with Repair & Share Foyle, the local authority will support community led action backed by a marketing campaign ‘Switch to Repair.’
This campaign will encompass a series of innovative repair café events, e-waste clinics, and tech donation days, aimed at not only diverting electronic waste from landfills but also fostering a culture of sustainability and resourcefulness.
With a particular emphasis on the rural Strabane community, the partnership seeks to bridge the urban-rural divide in waste management.
This collaborative effort reflects the council’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, promising a more sustainable and resilient future for the region.
