Activity: From Ragbag to Remarkable

The clothes displayed in the window are a unique blend of carefully curated second-hand finds and handmade pieces crafted from textiles reclaimed from the Oxfam rag pile

In collaboration with the local charity, Tools for Solidarity and Belfast City Council, community groups across Belfast participated in a pilot project aimed at rethinking textile waste. Unsellable garments were transformed into new creations, culminating in a fashion show in September 2024. Fabrics ranging from old ties and ripped denim to duvet covers and tablecloths—too damaged or worn for resale—were reimagined into 24 outfits inspired by the four seasons, showcasing a truly sustainable approach to fashion.

During Repair Week, these pieces will be on display to highlight the potential of upcycling, reuse, and repair.

Where: Oxfam Holywood Store, 10/16 Church Rd, Holywood BT18 9BU
When: Monday 3 – Sunday 9 March
